Ayoub Bagheri is Associate Professor of NLP and Sociolinguistics at Utrecht University. He is a Board member and Chair of the Interdisciplinary Research Committee at Utrecht Young Academy. He has been a Board Member of the Centre for Unusual Collaborations (CUCo), an initiative of the Young Academies within the EWUU alliance, aims to support early and mid-career researchers to engage in unconventional interdisciplinary collaborations. Since 2021, he has been Coordinator of the Special Interest Group in Text Mining within the Focus Area Applied Data Science at Utrecht University. In 2024, together with the five NLP groups at UU, the Utrecht NLP Hub (NLP@U) was formed, a collaborative initiative supported by the Focus Areas Applied Data Science and Human-centered AI. He is currently a Co-coordinator of the Utrecht NLP Hub, driving interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in NLP.
In the Department of Methodology and Statistics, he is Chair of the Data Science and AI Taskforce. He leads the Natural Language and Text Processing (NLTP) group in the Department of Methodology and Statistics at Utrecht University and is part of the Human Data Science lab (HDS), and a Supervisory Board member of the ASReview team. His current research interests include Explainable AI for NLP, and Evaluating Quality and Applications of Large Language Models in societal challenges.
